Kumo co-founder Robert Miller has spent 35+ years in the beauty industry as an award-winning stylist, renowned salon owner, and international hair educator.
After studying business and economics at the University of Denver, Robert went on to pursue his passion for hair and fashion as a professional hair stylist. He was also the owner of a successful 26-salon-spa collective, as well as three cosmetology schools, across Colorado and California.
As a consultant to nearly 300 salons and cosmetology schools, Robert is an industry expert with a proven track record of turning around salon profitability. Robert also spent 17 years as an inspirational speaker and presenter for a variety of major beauty manufacturers, distributors, salons, and stylists worldwide.
For years Robert has been inspired by Japanese culture — by their attention to detail, their cutting-edge fashion, and their extreme creativity as hairdressers. After meeting his business partner Robert Jon, they collaborated on the idea of creating a superior beauty product line, and thus Kumo was born.
Accolades include: United States World Championship team member, United States National Coiffure Championship winner, America’s Gold Trophy in Hairdressing winner, World Supreme competitor, and 43-time State Champion. Robert has been featured on network television and has been a contributor to major fashion magazines, including Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Allure, and Vanity Fair.
